Chairman West Midlands Branch
Major (Retd) Robert Giles serves as the Chairman of the West Midlands Branch of the Irish Guards Association, bringing a lifetime of Regimental devotion and high-level training governance to the role. Recruited from Birmingham in 1989, he first joined the Battalion in Berlin as a Guardsman in Shiny Number 1 Company. After 24 years of service, he transitioned to the dark side, completing an additional 10 years as a commissioned officer specializing in training governance before retiring at the rank of Major. Today, he leverages this extensive operational expertise as the head of Sword Training Solutions Ltd, balancing his professional activities between the United Kingdom and the Middle East. Appointed as Chairman with an explicit mandate to protect the branch’s constitutional integrity, he is focused on optimising local administration to ensure absolute alignment with the official February 2024 Regimental Headquarters Directive and the needs of those who find themselves inseparably associated with the Irish Guards.
